A B O U T
The RF and Microwave track, under the master of science in electrical engineering, will expose graduate students to research in Radio-Frequency (RF) communication systems for modern wireless communications. The RF and Microwave track will empower next generation RF-engineers. With exponential growth in wireless technologies such as emerging 5G, millimeter wave and terahertz technologies, also comes an exponential growth in jobs and our program will provide engineers with the much-needed skills to meet the job-market.
P R O G R A M H I G H L I G H T S:
- Hybrid track (onsite and online)
- 10-month program (classes offered fall and spring)
- Starts fall, 2018
- Electrical engineers with advanced training in high demand
- Taught by faculty leaders in RF and microwave engineering
- Highly relevant and continually evolving curriculum

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering encompasses a broad range of research and educational interests. It is the policy of the department to involve each faculty member in a balanced combination of research and teaching to fully benefit the students. A large number of our faculty has considerable industrial experience, and many mantain active consulting roles to provide current and relevant knowledge to the students in classroom and research settings.
M I S S I O N
The mission of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is to provide excellence in undergraduate and graduate education so that our graduates become critical thinkers, creative problem solvers, and life long learners; to further the quality of our graduate programs by conducting impact-oriented research that responds to the needs of the State of Florida, in particular, and the nation, in general; and to serve the community.
ACCREDITATIONS AND RANKINGS
FIU is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate, baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral degrees. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accredication Commission of ABET, which provides assurance that a college or university program meets the quality standards established by a profession for which the program prepares its students.
